Helping creators from the games industry take risks

After the success of the C’est Fini! Fund, Pixelles, a Montreal non-profit, is launching the Prototype Fund, also sponsored by WBD Access Canada and WB Games Montréal. This fund is meant to help creators take a risk on a new project concept that would otherwise be unavailable to them.

Pixelles x WBD Access Canada Prototype Fund

After the success of the C’est Fini! Fund, Pixelles Montréal is launching the Prototype Fund, also sponsored by WBD Access Canada and WB Games Montréal.

About the Prototype Fund

Prototyping is the riskiest part of game development, and therefore often restricted to those who can afford to fail without also losing their job or lifestyle. This fund is meant to help underrepresented creators find the time and space to take a risk on a new project concept that would otherwise be unavailable to them.

The fund offers up to $10,000 CAD, along with professional mentorship opportunities, to game creators that are transgender, non-binary, women (cis or trans), and genderqueer people. This funding is a grant, so there is no recoup, no publishing, or specific platform requirements.

About the C'est Fini! Fund

The C'est Fini! Fund was a program ran by Pixelles in 2022, with the support of WBD Access Canada and WB Games Montréal. The C'est Fini! Fund was designed to support Black, Indigenous, and racialized game developers finish their games so they could put them on the market or share them with others.

Selected projects received a funding grant combined with tailored mentorship and networking opportunities, to help them reach the next big milestone for their games.
