ACCESS TO ACTION CANADA
Access to Action Canada provides individuals who haven’t traditionally had pathways into the entertainment industry with access to below-the-line jobs on WBD film and television productions.
WBD ACCESS TO ACTION CANADA
Launched July 2021, Access to Action Canada fosters a more creative and inclusive production workforce and aligns with WBD’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Since the program’s launch, we have placed over 40 candidates in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto on productions including Riverdale, The Flash, Kung-Fu, Titans, Superman & Lois, and The Last of Us.
PROGRAM CRITERIA
Candidates are sourced exclusively from local government, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and vocational training programs. Access to Action Canada connects with community partners such as Intersections Media, Creative Pathways, North Island College, Collective Bunch, Creatives Empowered and POV, who refer candidates to the program.
All selected candidates receive an introductory interview. Those who demonstrate a discernible interest in the motion picture industry are then invited to apply through an online application form.
Once candidates are recruited into the program, Access to Action Canada connects with WBD productions to recommend candidates suitable for their needs.
Throughout their placement, candidates gain hands-on experience, are given the opportunity to network with industry professionals and receive coaching and skills training to help them thrive on set.
TRAINING
Beyond on set placements, Access to Action Canada provides below-the-line training opportunities such as the MBS Illumination Grip & Electric Training Program. Candidates receive instruction from working industry professionals in a safe learning environment.
