OUR PROGRAMS

WBD Access X Canadian Academy Writers Program

The WBD Access x Canadian Academy Writers Program is a professional development initiative focused on experienced Canadian writers from underrepresented communities. This program will support a maximum of 10 individuals seeking to advance their careers in episodic television through the development of a specific project, as well as mentorship and community-building opportunities, and access to invaluable industry knowledge from television executives and creators.

This program is a multi-year initiative supported by Warner Bros. Discovery and administered by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, in collaboration with Telefilm Canada

This program is designed to support writers from underrepresented communities: Indigenous, Black, people of colour, people with disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+, and Francophone members of the aforementioned communities. Applications and scripts can be submitted and developed in English or French, but the program sessions and communication are solely in English.
